Adding a new feature for Tinder to make it easier to schedule a date. Watch the prototype in action at the end of the text.

The challenge of this week in my Bootcamp at Ironhack was to add a new feature for an app.

Nowadays people are so busy that schedule to meet someone is almost a challenge. After talking to some friends about how is difficult to meet friends it came to my mind the idea to add a match schedule on Tinder, the most used app for meeting new people.

I validate the idea asking some Tinder’s users and all of them said that it is a very good idea and they’d use that.

The idea is to simplify the process of scheduling a date and avoiding long talkings about when one or another person are free to meet. Both of the users need to set up the days and times that they are free. When they talk about meeting, the system will recommend then to use the “match schedule”, both of them need to agree and then the system will match possible days that they can meet.

They just need to choose one day, invite the other and wait for an answer.

The methodologies I applied in this work were:

  • JTBD
  • Use Case
  • User Flow
  • Lo-Fi Wireframe
  • Hi-Fi Wireframe
  • Prototype

JTBD — Jobs To Be Done

That’s the sentence for the JTBD:

When I’m trying to schedule to meet someone on Tinder, I want to easily figure out the possible days to meet, so I can schedule a date without a long talking to try to match our schedules.”

Use Case

Two users are trying to schedule a date but they need to send many messages until figure out a day to meet. I reproduced in this chat bellow.

Hi-Fi Wireframe

Tinder has 2 colors, pink and blue and shades of gray, and I used that to keep the same aesthetic in my feature.

Prototype

The prototype simulates how people will manage the app.

Besides this idea, I also thought about adding some places that people would like to go to meet and that they could share with the other or also the system could do the same as with the schedule and match places.

Thanks, Marina Merlin for helping me to animate the match moment and record the prototype videos! =)
